26 Jun Waterberg Lodges in South Africa
The Wonderful Waterberg Awaits You
“Fifty Seven Waterberg” may not sound like the typical indigenous African name given to most exclusive game lodges in South Africa, by that’s about the only atypical African aspect of our lodge, which is located in in Welgevonden Game Reserve.
Welgevonden (and Fifty Seven Waterberg) is situated in the wonderful Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, additionally designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001. The biosphere reserve occupies more than 4 000 square kilometres of Limpopo’s Waterberg region. The Welgevonden Game Reserve itself is huge in extent, approximately 35 000 hectares.
In turn, Fifty Seven Waterberg is the privately owned 57th freehold portion of Welgevonden, and is surrounded by all the magnificent bushveld terrain, wildlife and natural features of the Waterberg district, as are the some 15 other lodges in this unique South African wilderness region.
Conservation and Preservation
Preserving and conserving the exclusivity, privacy, peace and tranquillity of the Waterberg bushveld, its fauna and flora, and each one of the luxury lodges that are located here, is paramount. Consequently, guest numbers at lodges are limited – many only accommodating ten people at any one time. Accordingly, Fifty Seven Waterberg offers five unmatched, 5-star guest suites.
Special Spaces
In keeping with the expansive open spaces on the plains and plateaux of Welgevonden, and the land apportioned to each of the lodges, we’ve ensured that our guest suites at Fifty Seven Waterberg are exceptionally spacious too.
Each of our beautifully appointed special spaces/suites is at least 80 square metres in extent, comfortably accommodating your king-sized bed and other furnishings. The suites resemble free-standing mini lodges in their own right, each located sufficiently distant from its neighbour, to ensure privacy and uninterrupted vistas over the wilderness from all interior angles, and a private patio.
Thatched roofs that keep interior spaces cool in summer and snugly warm in winter perch atop every unit and all main lodge buildings, blending in so well with the surrounding bushveld, and the colours and textures of Africa that they might be part of nature, rather than ultra-luxurious, man-made constructions that accommodate human beings in superb comfort.
Every suite is individually furnished, decorated and named – each name reflecting some of the reserve’s antelope species – Rooihartbees, Gemsbok, Springbok (honeymoon suite) and zebra (honeymoon suite), and an African tribe/cattle species of the region – Nguni.
The main lodge also offers special spaces and facilities which guests are most welcome to utilise – our spacious semi-covered wooden deck area with its clean, clear-blue, sparkling infinity swimming pool and outdoor loungers, dining area, communal lounge, working spaces and beautiful, romantic South African boma.
At Fifty Seven Waterberg, service excellence and affordable 5-star luxury at competitive rates are our priorities. Your priority is making your booking with us.
