26 Apr The Best Big 5 Game Lodges
Three Prominent Features at this Big 5 Game Lodge
Our exclusive, private game lodge, Fifty Seven Waterberg, is so named because our portion of the privately owned Welgevonden Game Reserve is listed as the fifty seventh section in a reserve that spans 35 000 hectares. Previously, before we took it over, the lodge was known as Molenvliet Lodge.
The Big 5
Mankind’s fascination with the so-called Big 5 game species that are found in abundance in our reserve is a major drawcard for visitors to Fifty Seven Waterberg. Welgevonden is known as a premier Big 5 game reserve.
African elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino are all at home here, going about their business of feeding, breeding, fighting for domination and survival, and protecting their young as they have done for centuries.
Fifty Seven Waterberg’s full board rates include two daily game viewing drives at the optimal times during which to observe wild animals, especially the Big 5’s big cat species – lion and leopard. Cats are known to be nocturnal animals, meaning that they prefer to hunt at night, when the day’s heat has dissipated or before the African sun begins to bake the bushveld terrain.
At dusk, nocturnal animals begin to stir and ready themselves for whatever the night may hold, and at dawn they may still be found eating or relaxing at the scene of the last night’s kill. At these two times of day, numerous wild creatures make their way to water holes, pools and rivers to slake their thirst.
5 Stars
In keeping with our luxury game lodge status, Fifty Seven Waterberg is a 5-star establishment, conforming to the very extensive list of criteria that the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) have specified and verified.
The list of luxurious features, facilities, amenities and service levels with which we ensure our guests’ comfort, convenience, peace and tranquillity, exceeds the required minima; we constantly strive to be even better at and in all we offer.
5 Superb, Surprisingly Spacious Suites
Fifty Seven Waterberg Game Lodge’s main building, its comfy, welcoming lounge and magnificent outdoor deck with infinity swimming pool and luxurious loungers are freely utilised by our guests. Each structure has a typically African thatched roof, ensuring that it blends into the surrounding natural bushveld.
Guests at our lodge are deliberately limited in number, preserving the exclusivity of the lodge and an enjoyable guest experience. Guest accommodation consists of only 5 private grand suites, located a modest distance away from the main complex for ultimate peace and privacy, factors which are essential for a bona fide African wilderness experience.
The 5 suites are reached along slightly raised, timber decked pathways, lit by lanterns after dark. Furnishings and appointments in each suite are of top standard, sophisticated, yet displaying elements and influences of Africa in design, colours, textures, finishes and shapes.
King size beds overlook the unspoiled wilderness through glass paned sliding doors. Imagine falling asleep with the sounds of African nocturnal creatures to take you away to dreamland and birdsong to bring you back to another day’s bushveld bliss in the morning.
What say, will we see you soon at our exclusive Big 5 game lodge?
