Where, When, and How to Find the Big 5
At Fifty Seven Waterberg, our Big 5 experiences are made all the more desirable because they take place from an open, all terrain game viewing vehicle, accompanied by a knowledgeable, experienced game ranger, who knows where, when, and how to find the Big 5 at various times, during various seasons and climate conditions.
You will be taken to see members of the select group, as well as other animals, twice daily – in the early mornings and late afternoons/evenings, without the incidental presence of dozens of other game spotting vehicles, packed with people who have the same goal in mind, but inadvertently spoil the experience of being alone, in harmony with the surrounding nature.
Times at the Lodge
Game drives take place at 05:00 or 06:00 and 15:00 or 16:00 each day, depending on the weather, season, and sighting. Breakfast at the game lodge is served once the by now peckish guests return from their morning game drive, at about 09:00. Lunchtime at the lodge is at 13:00, and delightful dinnertime begins at 19:30.
Other than adhering to these time guidelines, our guests at Fifty Seven Waterberg have all the unencumbered time in the world to relax, rest, swim, read, watch passing game come and go to drink at the waterhole, do precisely as they please, or simply just be. For your pleasure and convenience, the rates for our five-star, Fifty Seven Waterberg game lodge accommodation also includes your Daily game drives, plus three delicious gourmet meals daily, created and prepared by our resident executive chef. They are a veritable tour de force in the kitchen, dining room, and cosily screened, lantern lit outdoor boma, beneath the brightly twinkling African stars and beside the blazing logs in the fire pit at Fifty Seven Waterberg.
We only accommodate a maximum of ten adults at a single time – two couples per spacious, elegant five-star suite, of which there are five. This enables us to provide superior five-star personal service, lovely luxury, and outstanding Big 5 game viewing opportunities at our premier Big 5 game lodge.
