Some Interesting Things You Should Know About Fifty Seven Waterberg
Perhaps the first thing to know is that, while our lodge employs the number 57 in our web address, our official name is Fifty Seven Waterberg and this too is only our newest title. Formerly known as the MolenVliet Lodge, the one feature that can never be changed is our magnificent location in the Limpopo province at the heart of the Welgevonden Game Reserve. Translated from the Dutch, the reserve’s name means “well found” and all of those travellers who take a little time to experience this picturesque and fascinating region are certain to agree.
There can be few better places than our well-appointed lodge from which to explore the reserve which, incidentally, forms part of the first biosphere to be declared in South Africa’s northern regions. It was named as the Waterberg Biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2001. Home to more than 50 species of mammals, it is proving to be a magnet for those wishing to catch sight of Africa’s iconic Big 5 and, at Fifty Seven Waterberg, you will be able to enjoy the services of an experienced guide with all of the local knowledge that is essential to ensure that your game drive will meet all of your expectations and provide an experience that you will never wish to forget.
In practice, to describe Fifty Seven Waterberg as merely well-appointed is a definite understatement. Guests who choose to book their stay here can look forward to enjoying the kind of 5-star elegance that is more likely to be found in the city than in the bushveld, while having the assurance of staying in a malaria-free area. Available either on a full-board basis or for private use for those who prefer self-catering, each of our five luxury suites offers a commanding view of the surrounding terrain from the privacy of its own patio. Our en-suite rooms offer their occupants a full 80 square metres of space in which to relax, and are tastefully furnished and decorated to the very highest standards. King sized beds will ensure that you enjoy a well-deserved rest at the end of your active day.
Those choosing the full-board option will not only have all meals provided, but will also enjoy a game drive each morning and afternoon. Whatever your catering arrangements, the ample sundeck and sparkling pool are both yours to enjoy, as is the well-stocked bar. In addition to our weekend and midweek packages, we offer a special deal for those travelling a little further, allowing them to divide their 6-night stay between a boutique hotel in the country’s administrative capital of Pretoria and our luxurious Fifty Seven Waterberg lodge.
